One day, a rabbi gathered all his disciples and
invited them to question and even to criticize
him. The disciples said to him:
– Master, your conduct surprises us, you never
do what your father, your master, did, whom
we knew before he chose you as his successor.
How do you consider his heritage , where is
your loyalty?
The rabbi looked at his disciples gravely, but he
had a gleam in his eye, a spark of joy and of
malice. He said to them:
– I will explain to you, it is very simple. No one
is more faithful than I am! In everything, I do
exactly what my father did; just as he never
imitated anyone else, I do the same!
